In this paper, which I wrote for a Sustainable Food Systems course at Temple University, I discuss food regulation in the US, break down nutrition labeling and food marketing practices, and share my research on the things that impact the food choices of consumers.
To what extent is consumer choice and behavior influenced by food marketing practices in the United States? Being someone with a passion and interest for both food and marketing, I set out to examine the food marketing practices in this country and whether their impact on consumers matters in the behaviors—and thus health outcomes of our communities.
Since this paper, food labeling has undergone some changes, among other changes in the food space. I look forward to updating my research on these.
